Roosevelt Renovation
Student Wellness Center

FAQs

Will the improvements be done all at once? The goal is to raise the funds through tax-deductible donations needed for all four phases to be completed at once without delays between phases. However, renovations can be done in phases if needed.

What is the cost for the project? The complete project is estimated to cost approximately $294,000.00. It can be broken down into four phases with the following costs: Phase 1 - $90,000.00*; Phase 2 - $98,000.00*; Phase 3 - $44,000.00; Phase 4 - $62,000.00. *After meetings with coaches, Phases 1 & 2 have been expanded from the original scope of work to further benefit the Hubbard students and athletes that will be using the facility. The HEVSD School Board has unanimously approved the upgraded and expanded Phase 1 & 2 blueprints. (Updated: February 2024)

When will construction begin? Once the fundraising is complete for each phase (along with a contingency amount for changes) the plans will be started and the project will go out for bid through the project management team at BSHM Architects, Inc. A 90 day scheduled start after the fundraising benchmark is reached is expected. Additional phases will follow suit. If completing multiple phases together would generate a significant cost savings and we are close to reaching those goals as well we may wait to begin a phase so we can complete them together.

Who is overseeing the fundraising? Hubbard Youth Coalition Inc. (HYC), a 501(c)(3) public charity, will be managing all fundraising efforts for the renovations. All donations made for the project through HYC are tax-deductible under IRC Section 170 and a copy of the IRS Determination Letter is available upon written request to HYC at hubbardyouth@gmail.com.

Who owns and maintains the building? The Hubbard Exempted Village School District (HEVSD) owns and maintains the building (snow plowing, salting, repairs, general maintenance, etc.).

Will the facility be able to be used for practices during the renovation? Yes, it is the goal of all involved to maintain team activities as much as possible during the renovation/construction.

How will use of the facility be prioritized once the remodel is complete? HEVSD teams and organizations have first priority in scheduling use of the building followed by Hubbard youth community sports leagues. Community members and those outside of Hubbard can schedule use of the building for a fee when not being used by Hubbard Schools.

How will future improvements be funded? Future upgrades to the building will be paid for through continued fundraising efforts as well as revenue generated by rental fees.

What is being added to the facility? The preliminary plans include a weight room, multi-sport practice areas with and without turf, changing rooms with lockers and a multi-purpose room for coaches’ film sessions with players and parent viewing of practices.
